Begin your Hanoi city trip with the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, where you can pay tribute to Ho Chi Minh's embalmed body. Continue through the park to Ho Chi Minh's Stilt House, a basic two-room residence where Ho Chi Minh stayed from 1958 until 1969. It can only be glimpsed via windows because it has been preserved in the same state as when he lived. Visit the 11th-century tiny One Pillar Pagoda, which was restored after being destroyed by the French in 1954. Then go to the Temple of Literature, a tranquil complex of walled courtyards and beautiful gateways that is considered one of the best examples of traditional Vietnamese architecture. Everywhere you look, the traditional and modern worlds collide. The city's developing modern skyline coexists with colonial structures and traditional temples. Young professionals can be seen on the streets.

Outside on the streets, young professionals ride their motorcycles through the streets, chatting on their phones; inside the calm temple grounds, believers pray amidst clouds of incense. You will be greeted upon arrival and given a tour of this dynamic metropolis.

Depart towards Mytho (80 kilometres / 2 hours 30 minutes on the road), the provincial capital of Tien Giang. Walk to the market from the Vinh Trang Pagoda. The Mekong River rises in the Himalayas and flows 4500 kilometres to the Sea of China, passing through the Mekong Delta's nine arms (the nine dragons). A boat journey along one of the river's many arms and canals, which form a network of hundreds of kilometres, will take you to the island of Thoi Son, which is known for its exotic fruit orchards. Angkor Wat, the crown gem of Khmer architecture, is the country's icon and the highlight of any trip to Cambodia.
