Greetings from Madrid! You will be welcomed at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas International Airport and driven to your hotel so you can check-in. As you wait for your tour to start, feel free to relax or explore the neighborhood. Please see the information posters in the hotel lobby area to learn more about the welcome gathering with your guide and fellow visitors. As the day draws to a close, we will arrange transportation to the Egyptian Debod Temple, Plaza de Espaa, and Gran Via, three bustling neighborhoods where you can eat at the restaurants of your choosing and sample cuisines including Indian, Chinese, Spanish, and Middle Eastern. You will embark on a thorough walking tour of Madrid's city center after breakfast, including stops at the Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, the Gate of Alcala, Plaza de Colon, and Plaza Mayor. You will go to Retiro Park, a green haven in the middle of the city, where you can see the Glass Palace and the lake. There will be free admission to Las Ventas Bullring. In the Bullfighting Museum, one of the most well-known bullrings in the world, you may read about the "corridas" heritage. Enjoy the remainder of your free time. You will be driven to Plaza de Oriente at dusk for a lovely meal (Indian, Middle Eastern, Muslim, Spanish, and International restaurants are omitted). You'll leave Madrid early in the morning to go to Aragon. Enjoy a quick visit to the fascinating city of Zaragoza, which is well-known for its imposing cathedrals and museums. Your tour guide will accompany you to the Basilica of the Pilar. The group will then have free time to explore the city centre and this magnificent refuge. Later, travel to Cataluna to see the Monastery of Poblet, one of the world's best-preserved mediaeval monasteries surrounded by majestic walls (entry and guided tour included). After that, you'll travel to the Monastery of Montserrat where you can take the rack railway through stunning scenery. Last but not least, keep travelling until you reach Barcelona, where you will arrive in the late afternoon. You will embark on a city tour of Barcelona after a delectable breakfast that will take you to several popular tourist attractions. You will stroll down La Rambla, a bustling boulevard in the heart of Barcelona that links the Placa de Catalunya with the Christopher Columbus Monument. You will then have the opportunity to view Gaudi's creations, he is a renowned and well-respected Spanish architect noted for his distinctive design aesthetic. Visit La Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera, two of his well-known masterpieces, on Passeig de Gracia. You will be driven to Girona, a tiny Catalan city famed for its lovely medieval center and spectacular cathedral that stands out with its grand stairway, at around 6:00 PM. You'll drive through Provence as you enter France this morning. The modest World Heritage City of Arles, where you will remember Van Gogh and view the Roman Theater and little Romanesque churches, will serve as an important stopover for you on the way. You will arrive in Nimes, a significant Roman city, around noon. Nearly two thousand years later, its ancient arena still hosts concerts and bullfights. Spend some time lunching and taking a stroll in the city. You will be granted access to Carrieres De Lumiere, a stunning exhibition of visual art, underground music, and art in abandoned quarries. You will stop at La Garde Adhemar, a superbly preserved village in Provence with stunning views of the Rhone Valley, near the end of the afternoon. Following breakfast, you will journey through Switzerland to Geneva, where you will embark on a guided tour. Your tour guide will take you to the Palace of Nations, which serves as the United Nations European headquarters, the highest fountain in Europe, the Jet d'Eau, and a charming English garden. You will continue your tour to the Chillon Castle, a medieval fortress built in the lake's waters (admission included). After that, you will stroll through the charming, walled village of Gruyere, which is well-known for its cheese. There are various chocolate factories nearby, NESTLE being one of them. The Cailler Chocolate Factory will be visited as part of your trip, and sampling will be provided. Start your day by taking a trip through Rouen's historic center, where you can take in the city's majestic cathedral and centuries-old streets. You will then depart to tour the northern region of France. You will board a ferry to traverse the English Channel until you arrive in Canterbury, the nation's seat of religion and famed for its charming old town. Continue your travel and come in London with enough time to stroll around the city, see Tower Bridge lit up, and take in the contemporary architecture. Today, you'll take a locally-led tour of London that will cover its fashion, culture, and history.
